Adjunct Professor - writing and literature, English department
- Essay Evaluation and Student Placement: Reading and evaluation of
freshman and transfer student placement essays. Based on demonstrated
reading comprehension and written communication ability, including content,
organization, grammar, and vocabulary, students are placed in appropriate
expository writing classes.
- LIT 211D: The Individual and Society. 3 credits/200 level (sophomore
and up)
Irish Literature. A survey course of Irish and Irish American
literature of the 20th century with a focus on women writers and representations
of women.
Women in Literature: A course examining representations of
women in and women writers of American literature of the nineteenth
century. Primary focus on pioneer literature.
Folklore and Fairy Tales. This academic service-learning course
involves a study of the oral and literary history of select works of
folklore and fairy tales combined with community service. Students work
with children reading, questioning, and sharing approved stories. The
organizations worked with host activities for children in need of attention,
supervision, or assistance in developing reading skills.
- ENG 110: Composition. A 3-credit required course for freshman consisting
of expository writing exercises and some creative writing.
- ENG 120D/105D: Critical Writing/Composition and Rhetoric. A 6-credit
writing course for freshman in need of intensive assistance in academic
composition. Students develop skills in writing nonfiction/research
and some fiction, with one day per week dedicated to grammar/vocabulary
review.
- ENG 201: Writing in the Disciplines. A 3-credit core course for students
of the humanities, business, and sciences: Application of nonfiction/research
and creative writing as required by each student's major interface layouts
for client portal communities.
